School year now in full swing

Sep 12

Dear Parents,

Our school year is now in full swing as we complete our second week. The girls are immersed in their studies, practising and competing in athletic events, and have signed up for co-curricular clubs already.

Successful events this week include our University Information Session and Junior School Curriculum Night; we look forward as well to Friday’s Grade 9 Orientation, where Grade 12 students make every opportunity to welcome Grade 9 students to the Senior School.

Next week is an important time for our Run for the Cure campaign. Thanks to the tireless efforts of PFAC volunteers, especially Sherry Lima and Kelly Brandys, the campaign is on its way to a banner year. I look forward to seeing you at one of the many Run for the Cure events, which you will find detailed in e-News and the Junior School Scanner.

You will also find a link to my third webisode instalment entitled “Are Girls’ Schools Outdated?” I believe girls’ schools offer something very different and incredibly relevant in this day and age.

A special thank you to parents who have offered to host a “coffee evening” in their homes to meet fellow parents and myself. Our first evening, for Grade 8 parents will be on Wednesday, September 17. Please RSVP Melanie D’Alessio at mdalessio@elmwood.on.ca. Further receptions will take place over the next few months – watch for your invitation in the mail.

As always, I value your feedback so please leave a comment or email me at head@elmwood.on.ca if you wish.
